I recently updated the software on my phone and noticed some of the new apps. I decided to see if there were any dog related apps that sounded interesting. I haven’t actually tried any of these but here’s a list of ones to check out.
This is an app that plays sounds and music especially designed to calm and soothe your pet. There’s been scientific evidence that certain sounds can indeed help a dog to relax so if you have an anxious dog this might fall in the category of might help, but can’t hurt.
These apps “translate” your dog’s barks into English. Obviously this is just meant to be fun and, in fact, one comes with a disclaimer that it “may not accurately reflect your dog’s emotions at all times.” I’m pretty sure the only thing my dogs are saying to me is that they want to eat.
The main downside of clicker training is that you have to remember to carry it with you. With this app, you get an animated clicker. Of course you have to remember to have your phone.
This app emits short bursts of high frequency sounds that get your dog’s attention. It’s triggered when your dog starts barking. Although I haven’t tried it, I’m a little skeptical – plus I think you’d need to get your dog his own phone.
There really is an app for everything!
