Pets are relinquished for a variety of reasons – finances, emergencies, illness, behavior problems, relocation, lack of education… the list goes on.
The non-profit, social service organization, Pets are like Family (PALF) assists families and individuals with limited resources care for their beloved four-legged family member. PALF helps Chicago pet parents have a loving, responsible relationship with their pets by providing education, resources, counseling and referral services; to keep pets with their families and avoid pet relinquishment. I’m honored to serve on their board, along with AnimalSense Owner Lindsay Rapp, and wanted to help spread the word about the work PALF is doing.
With an array of programs and events, PALF, provides the following services:
Counseling & Referrals
New Pet Orientation & Education
Outreach & Advocacy
Services are provided in English and in Spanish. PALF is currently concentrating on the Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Hermosa and Belmont Cragin areas, but hopes to spread throughout the entire city of Chicago over time.
