Intern
Kathryn and her husband Dale got their first dog, a standard poodle named Jack, three years ago and Kathryn knew from the beginning that she wanted to learn as much as possible about training. Several people in her neighborhood recommended Animal Sense and, well.......they were hooked almost immediately. Taking one class turned in to taking two at a time, and attending as many open playgroups as possible. We're not sure who liked it more, Jack or Kath!
After two years of AnimalSense classes, Kath and Dale moved to Batavia, and continuing to take classes became more difficult with the commute and owning their first home. Because birds have always been a huge part of Kathryn's life (she has 11, yes, ELEVEN!!), she secured a job at a bird store in Batavia, "Bird is the Word". Kathryn quickly realized that even though she had years of experience with her own birds, there was so much more to learn. Although she took a course to become a certified avian specialist and loves working thin the bird store, Kathryn missed her involvement with Animal Sense and training dogs.
Two months ago, in May 2007, Kathryn and Dale got a second dog, and they couldn't imagine taking a class anywhere but AnimalSense. So, during a phone conversation with Jamie, Kathryn was asked to be a part of AnimalSense's blossoming intern program. And she couldn't have been more excited about this new adventure. Kathryn is extremely committed to animals, and has always felt that if people are given the right information from the beginning, they have such a better chance of making things work! This, along with her warmth and kindness, is the commitment that Kathryn brings to the Animal Sense team.
