Sarah Rothberger - Canine Good Citizen Evaluator
Sarahs educational background is in English, with a BA in Literature from SUNY Potsdam and anMFA in Poetry from the University of Pittsburgh. Before moving to Chicago, she taught writing tocollege students and poetry to high school students. Currently, she works as the full timeAcademic Coordinator of the University of Illinois at Chicago PhD Program in Disability Studies.In Chicago, she has also worked in doggy day care facilities and walked dogs for Cruisin CaninesDog Walking Services and Out-U-Go! Sarah teaches may of our classes including Focus, FidoFoundations and her personal favorite, the puppy classes including our newest addition, the AKCS.T.A.R. Puppy class. She is also available for private lessons. And if you are feeling reallyadventurous, she can even write you a poem about your dog.
Although originally attracted to the field of dog training by her interest in Service Dogs, Sarahsdog training interests are varied. She also enjoys behavior modification and canine lifestylemanagement. She reads constantly about behavior and attends conferences and seminars in thefield of pet dog training and behavior. Her favorite and most recommended book? The CultureClash by Jean Donaldson. Sarah lives in Chicago with her partner and their son Ellis whorecently celebrated his first birthday. They share their home with one sweet cat, Josie, 6 fish whoprefer to remain un-named, and a "good girl" named Winnie, a mixed-breed dog of mysteriousorigin, who they adopted together from Chicago Animal Care and Control in September 2003.
For non-doggie fun, Sarah enjoys being a mom to Ellis, writing, reading, knitting and creatingstuffed toys.
