The mission of the AnimalSense Academy program is to provide Academy participants with a comprehensive introduction to the dog-training profession. This includes:

- Training skills
- Classroom instruction
- Learning theory
- Behavior modification
- Dog training administration
- Exposure to many facets of the professional dog industry
- Building collegial relationships / professional collaboration skills
Academy participants will engage in a variety of learning opportunities, all designed to offer the most complete dog training education experience in the nation. Students will do everything from observing and assisting at actual group dog-training classes, participate in externships at a wide variety of dog related businesses, and meet with their supervising instructor(s) regularly for one- on-one skill practices and progress updates. Successful completion of the Academy program may even lead to an opportunity to become a staff trainer with AnimalSense, but this is not guaranteed.
Prospective AnimalSense Academy participants are required to:
- Submit a cover letter and resume detailing your education and work experience.
- Complete an Academy application.
- Complete an in-person interview.
- Commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week. One absence per class session is permitted with the prior permission of the supervising instructor.
- Be willing and able to follow the directions of the supervising instructor(s) and other AnimalSense staff, and provide any assistance that is requested by the supervising instructor.
- Execute a confidentiallity / non-disclosure agreement.
