Karla Hoover - Assistant Staff Trainer
Born and raised in Oak Park, Karla Hoover was raised to care for and work with animals from an early age. Karla’s love of animals started when her mother brought home a shy kitten named Leah in 1988, who Karla nurtured into a loving, gregarious family pet.
From there, she ventured on to horseback riding, spending time each summer at Hoofbeat Ridge summer camp. She joined University of Montana Equestrian Team while earning her degree in Wildlife Biology which she completed in 2003. It was while she was in this program that she became fascinated with animal behavior and spent time working on a wildlife traffic safety project and researching the habitat of the Dusky Flycatcher songbird.
Karla moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to work as a legal secretary, but returned to her hearts true calling, working with animals as a wrangler at a camp in Big Bear, CA in 2005. She then returned to her native town of Oak Park to start her own pet sitting business, which Karla and her husband Brendan continue to grow together.
In the summer of 2008, Karla and Brendan adopted a Cocker Spaniel puppy named Duncan and took him to AnimalSense for training. Karla was hooked on dog training from the first class. She gained admittance to the AnimalSense Academy in 2009, and is thrilled to be able to join the AnimalSense Team as an assistant trainer!
