Dear Jaime,
Cookie, Curt, and I would like to thank you for all your help. As you know, Curt and I adopted Cookie from a humane organization in February 2005. Within days of her arrival, Cookie began to display signs of anxiety. Unfortunately, until we met you in April, we suffered needlessly as Cookie terrorized our cats, scared our neighbors, barked at houseguests, and, during our walks, lunged at any moving object within 100 feet. These problems were just a few of many. (We should have known we were in trouble when we got her veterinary records. Someone wrote "too hyper" in the temperament box.)
You immediately diagnosed Cookie as having general anxiety disorder, fear-based aggression, and poor impulse control. I mentioned that Cookie "displayed signs of anxiety," but in all honesty, we thought she was just a bad girl. You explained Cookie's behavior to us in plain English and gave us an action plan.
As part of that plan, Cookie, Curt, and I saw Dr. Yael Cidon. Dr. Cidon prescribed medication. We were skeptical at first, but the medication and training really do work. Cookie is a different dog!
We all behave a little better now, especially Cookie. Our cats feel better and so do we. She plays in the yard while our neighbors are out and only occasionally barks. We have even had houseguests! We're still working on walking
Thank you again. Cookie, Curt, and I look forward to your next visit.
